Things I Wish I Knew As A Beginner Artist
This is the overhauled, revised edition! Edited from the 2019 version. Released April 2020.
There are many things I wish I knew as a beginner artist, and the tips and guidelines in this book have changed my artwork drastically. There are no rules in art, but if you’re unhappy with your artwork and want to improve, there are guidelines to follow to get better results. This book is for complete beginners and intermediate artists.
There are many colored photos included for demonstration, but I’ve made sure there’s enough contrast. If all you have is a black and white Kindle, you’ll still be able to see exactly what I'm demonstrating.
Topics include; tips for both traditional and digital artists, where to start with supplies, pencil techniques for beautiful linework, ways to see like an artist, tips on getting a likeness when creating portraits, the fundamentals, creating thumbnails to get the perfect scene, using grids as a tool, how to do studies to master where you lack, how to use references, checking your own work, how to improve on your work and where to get feedback, where and how to get inspiration, and exercises that spark inspiration!
