After Invasion Kindle Edition

3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 20 ratings

They came without warning, leveling cities, kidnapping unwilling victims, and leaving few survivors behind. The initial invasion might be over but the real battle for survival has only begun.
Forest has never had much of a purpose in life. He can’t hold down a job and besides writing fantasy novels his life lacks all meaning, until he loses his parents, friends, and way of life. Now, without humanities constraints he must find the will to survive and fight off the alien Grays who search the remote areas of the planet nightly, hunting for those who have escaped their grasp.
When Forest intercepts a CB radio transmission he learns of a group of survivors in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Abandoning the safety of his home, Forest embarks on a quest to find others like him and survive among the ruins of a dismantled earth.

I do not usually read alien invasion books. I do like science fiction but this is an area where I have not read much. I have read a lot by this author, so I figured I would give this book a shot. I was glad I did. As the title informs you, this story takes place after the invasion has already begun. It`s the tale of a man who was having trouble getting his life together and lost everything (what little there was to be lost) in the invasion. It`s a quick read and well worth the price.

Although the book has some typos and most part of the plot and the aliens are kind of predictable, the story is engaging, reads fast and has a good amount of suspense to keep you hooked. The ending, even being a bit rushed, has a good twist and doesn't leave you at a cliffhanger.

Regarding the plot itself, I think the description gives a good account of it.

Must have been written by, or for, teenagers.
Nothing original here, no really surprises, just use of the oldest "accepted"
aliens from our human minds - the grays.
I have read better SciFi.
