This is a good arrangement of a few important passages from the Original, longer Dhammapada. The book itself was well made as well. The holy book which is larger captures the imagination and I cannot wait to read it thorough. There is no discussion of origins, who came first nor any muddled and conflicting history. This is a must for the study of Mahayana Buddhism before reading and learning, learning every day often has the effect of placing a blueprint over the original and reading how it is to be read allowed very soon.

Very valuable to both the academic and the seeker of higher intelligence and truth. A lot of truth is contained here; The Buddha, was truly inspired by God. However, this book, nor the fulness of the teachings of The Buddha, even interpreted correctly, contain the fulness of the knowledge that God is willing and desirous to give us. In addition, the Dhammapada also contains false teachings, that the Buddha or his followers misinterpreted as true revelation, such as condemning love, as an evil passion to be avoided that will prevent one from reaching nirvana. Love is of God, and He desires for us to take full advantage of it within the guidelines that He has prescribed, i.e. charity, marriage (which is not only ordained by God, but actually instituted by Him), etc. Just to give one example of many. That being said, allow me here to make two clarifications. 1. I belive that The Buddha and his true disciples did their very best to avoid any false doctrine to be taught, but despite their best efforts simply failed. 2. I think they did an amazing job; the book is mostly true, with very few instances of false doctrine. For a books that are even more valuable than this, and void of any false doctrine, as far as they are translated correctly, read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Don't be scared, you have nothing to loose, if they're false, God will tell you, if they are true, God will tell you. Just read them, then ask.
