Brook Marston doesn’t understand why she spontaneously writes future predictions about people she hardly knows. She learns to adapt but is admittedly stunned when she writes an unexpected prediction about her employer, Charles Landon, the wealthy owner of a major downtown building called the Gateman. It starts with a sentence… then the characters step in and guide the evolution of the plot. I feel the push-back from a specific character if I venture into a direction which I also question. It’s a collaboration. In the end, I have the pleasure of writing their story. I love each of my characters, even the ones with questionable ‘character’.

Additionally, I always feel joyful when I write. It is a fully immersive experience that leaves me feeling excited because of the novelty of the storyline. I also feel productive because of the process. I hope the reader will be as interested in the evolving characters as I am.

My novels and short stories cover a wide spectrum from mysteries and thrillers, stories of transformative and inspiring life journeys, as well as imaginative science fiction tales. I enjoy blending opposing genres using psychology and humor. Often, the ending of a story is as much of a surprise to me as it is to the reader, both of us in suspense as an unexpected ending unfolds.

I always hope the joy of writing translates into the joy of reading.

This novel did not hold up to the standard I expect from writing that I pay money for. The narrative was sluggish, choppy, and repetitive. The characters were extremely one dimensional, not believable, and the single personality they showed changed just for the sake of the plotline. The main character was flighty, self-centered, and not at all likable. The story was mainly told in first-person, but there were random sentences of alternating-person (where you'd hear the other character's thoughts) that were not cohesive and confusing. The main plotline concept had promise, but there was little investigation or explanation on the main character's ability (and apparently the main character herself never tried to investigate why she had this skill, contrary to her inquisitive nature), so the reader is left unfulfilled. Overall, would not recommend.
