I Died Three Times in 1977 - The Complete Story Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 52 ratings

She was the mother of three in 1977, newly divorced and starting over, in training to be a bank manager. But life had other plans. Soon P.M.H. Atwater would find herself where everyone will eventually travel, but few have ever returned.

Not once. But three times.

She came back no longer who she was ...to a life beyond imagining.

Within the year PMH would become one of the original researchers in the field of near-death studies. The chronicler of thousands of accounts of the phenomenon. And the creator of over a dozen books & tapes --
on the near-death experience
on transformations of consciousness
on generations of "New Children"
on the future of the human race.

PMH's own "Complete Story" has never been told.

Until now.

Here is what it was like to become a near-death experiencer herself -- how she "Died Three Times in 1977."

Now as high-energy physicists fire sub-electrons at God's own particle, mathematicians continue to re-visualize a 'theory of everything,'
and astronomers see almost to the beginning of time -- comes an
eye-witness account from the last century startlingly similar to these present-day visions of reality.

Join PMH Atwater on this personal voyage of revelation -- the beginning of what eventually would bring millions a better understanding of the nature of death, consciousness, and life itself.

An international authority on near-death states, PMH Atwater, L.H.D., is the author of 19 books. Her writings have also appeared in numerous magazines, newsletters, and journals. Some of her research has been validated in clinical settings also mentioned in the Lancet Medical Journal. She has been given numerous citations, appeared on national television, and spoken twice to groups at the United Nations about her work. She has donated both the copyright and all proceeds from her popular BIG BOOK OF NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES, an encyclopedia about the phenomena, to the International Association of Near-Death Studies to aid in their work. To date, her research has included the experiences of nearly 5,000 adults and children. Her recent book, THE FOREVER ANGELS: NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCES IN CHILDHOOD AND THEIR LIFELONG IMPACT, challenged the entire field of study, and forever changing conversations about life, death, reincarnation, and the life continuum. She also publishes a free monthly newsletter – For the Curious – and a blog fielding questions about near-death experiences and related subjects.

This is the 8th P.M.H. Atwater, L.H.D. book that I have read. Why so many? Because I feel she is a teacher for me. She died three times. Why does that matter? Why does knowing about what really happens when we die matter? Because, for me anyway, it shines light on knowing what this experience we call life is really all about. I learn more with each of P.M.H.'s books. Thank you, P.M.H., for how you help me, and the world.

This was a very interesting story. It gives a lot of personal background to the author's later work - studying and documenting near death experiences.

I gave it a four star rating, vice five, because it leaves so many unanswered questions about her rather erratic behavior and odd choices during the period in her life when this story took place.

This is the second book that I have read by PMH. The first one I read right after my dad died in 2004, We Live Forever. It gave me so much comfort and confirmed for me that there is life after death and so much more that our brains have a hard time grasping. My mom died in 2009 and Atwater's words have given me strength once again. They vibrate inside me. I can see what she saw and at the same time want to know more.

I always offer We Live Forever as a resource to those who read my blog and listen to my podcast, http://LosingYourParents.org. I can now offer this book, too. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed this little book. Very fast read & yet very in depth & intriguing. I have also read & enjoyed "Dying to know you". A dynamic little book! Can't get enough of P.M.H. Atwater. Love her style of writing. I'm starting on "Future Memory" next. Don't expect this one to be as easy to get through but know it will be worth the effort & time....like life is!

A very personal and well described account of the author's near death experiences. There is no confirmation that any actual death occurred or of how near the author's experience was to death. The experiences reported are not unexpectedly dissimilar from other reported near death experiences or from phenomenon experienced in deep meditation for that matter. From these experiences the author went on to become an authority in the field of near death experiences, which is why I sought out this book. I have not yet read her other books, so I can not judge them, but if this is a foundation for that work and not just the impetus for it, it would be a weak foundation. There is no addressing the possibility that her experiences may well have been the mind's natural "fight, flight, freeze" response to trauma. To my way of thinking, that interpretation would not invalidate them necessarily, however. I suppose your acceptance of her report and particularly the metaphysical conclusions she draws depend on the paradigm in which you come to it.

If you are searching for answers, I would recommend you consider this book a starting point, as the author did.

This woman's story of deaths, NDEs, survival beyond my imagination, courage, and what she did with all of Life experiences kept me turning the pages as fast as I could!! I'm so very grateful that she survived each death, but that she also has researched, listened, recorded, and shared her 'journey' with us!!
This is one to keep in your library!!

A very impressive story, it does raise a lot of questions, certainly worth reading. A must read for everyone interested in NDE's.

Fascinating story! I loved her insights into the various phases and aspects of her near death experiences.... or dying-and-reviving experiences.

Yes. I would say, read this, if you are currently debating whether to or not. It may even be important that you read it. So, go on.

For anyone who has had a NDE, or is wondering about the experience, this is the most detailed I have read. I am interested in reading the rest of her books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good bits - and some odd bits in this book .
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 11, 2015
This could have been a very good book but was spoiled by some really odd stuff . Discernment is required when one wishes to advance spiritually and we have 2 tools for that : One is intuition and the second is the question ` How is it in line with the Teachings of Christ ? ` . If it`s an anti-Christ / anti - Bible teaching then one has to wonder ... and tread carefully.

Slightly odd that she insists to be called by the initials P.M.H. rather than her first name but that`s no big thing. What IS a big thing is that she "saw" that one of her incarnations was her as a lizard-like being . In a footnote I wrote to that " WHAT ??? " . The Bible tells us that God created Man - not first a lizard-like being that turned into Man . She was ill at the time and under medical drugs - so .... be careful what you call a spiritual inspiration or revelation and what has been clouded by medical drugs .
She wrote that facing God was an enormous experience yet when she faced The Word of God ( according to St. John ) - Christ - she felt `no need` to bow before Him or worship Him . I thought that was a bit odd too.
It`s a pity because there are a number of " good bits " in the book . Question is : can I trust an author who mixes spiritual revelations with experiences during drug use ?
