Between this issue and the last one I'm beginning to think the First Order might be bad at stamping out rebellion in their troops during training. Age of the Resistance has made it to its second issue, this time staring the character Captain Phasma. For having such a cool design and premise, being the only Stormtrooper to earn a name, she went underused in both The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Writer Tom Taylor does a lot better with her character than he did with Finn. He shows her to be the competent, ruthless, borderline sociopathic leader she is. I haven't read any of this character's other material so this is a nice introduction. The only problem is that like Age of the Rebellion (2019): Boba Fett #1, the writer decides to make some random side character the main focus. The comic is still a great Star Wars tale. Leonard Kirk is still at the top of the art game, though his work feels less like a Star Wars comic and more like a Marvel one. I'm more optimistic for this series now than I was before.
