The Transgender Men's Guide to Life: Coming Out and Socially Transitioning Towards Your True Gender Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 26 ratings

Have you always been told you're a woman, but you know inside that you're really a man?

Then "The Transgender Men's Guide to Life" Series is for you.

This isn’t just a trans men’s guide to medical and legal transition—it’s a guide to reaching for the life and happiness you want, need, and deserve.

About the book: In Coming Out and Socially Transitioning we will discuss the thoughts, feelings, and worries you may have when first telling other people you’re a transgender man and making other non-medical changes that project your malehood publicly. If you know transitioning is right for you, we want you to do it and reap the benefits of living authentically.

Easier said than done, though, right?

I know firsthand that as transgender people, we often inherit negative or limiting thoughts about who, how, when, and what are the “right” ways to come out and embody our manhood. But I got past them, and you can too.

The Transgender Men’s Guide to Life series is advice written by trans men for trans men with a focus on positivity and resilience. There are already enough advice givers who tell trans folks to expect heartbreak and rejection—but we know from experience that for every setback there’s an equal and greater gain.

This book really helped me to understand things about coming out in all areas. While I know we're all different and may do things differently it was beneficial to have specific guidelines. While I'm out to my family except to my mom I have sensed some hesitation from some and while I know they love me I am seeing that it will take time for acceptance. I had felt just recently it was hopeless for me because I felt they don't accept me but I do understand now that it could be an up and down ride for them as well.

While reading this book I came out to four people, well more like two people as my mother and sister already knew. Now I have more people knowing and I can do my best to control the conversations. Do the best you can of course, the book was a lot of help.

This is an easy, quick read. However, the author repeats his points several times over. His advice is sound, but I would have liked more details and expanded information.
