An Interview with Allyson

Q1
How do you find inspiration for your characters?

A1
The characters grow within the book. Salsa or Die is one of my first short stories and I had this formula where I would write the first line and see where it took me. I try to make most of my stories about realistic situations, and I always put myself in the characters shoes and think, 'what would I do now?'

Q2
Do you salsa dance? Is this story linked to one of your hobbies?

A2
Ha-ha, no. My husband loves salsa and used to go to a weekly club, but I've never learned. Although to be fair, I have asked him to teach me and bought a boxset of salsa cd's, but so far he hasn't taken me up on the challenge. Hmm, I wonder why?

Q3
I have noticed you write in a lot of different genres, sweet romance, women's fiction, erotica and even nonfiction. Do you find it hard to switch your thoughts from one to the other?

A3
No, not really. I am now writing erotica under a pan name, Cyra May, so I just put on another hat to do that. Nonfiction I write when I feel the need, although I have to say I am itching to write a cookery book. Women's and contemporary romance really go hand in hand and it depends on how the story develops as to whether it is sweet or not. I mean Linda in Goodbye Hello, deserved to have a good time and I just couldn't fade to black. I also write for New Adult genre and mature readers, so I try to keep in mind what my readers would appreciate. I even tried a little paranormal/fantasy with A Prickly Christmas Kiss, which was well received.
Q4
What projects are you working on at the moment?

A4
Too many, I think.
I am in two box sets that are coming out fall 2018, both will be new unpublished books. I really enjoy working with other authors, especially my friend, Tamara Ferguson, who I really owe a lot too. She is my guru, and is always on hand to offer advice, as well as being a great author. One boxset if to raise money for breast cancer awareness and Tamara is donating a book as well.
I hope to also have three new sweet romance Christmas stories published by November and as Cyra May get two boxsets set up for The Professionals Short Sexy Reads and also a perma free book to give readers a chance of a taster for the series. I am also working on a brand new series called Foxxy, where the main character is a lot grittier and extremely motivated to help others in unfortunate situations. I think that is enough to keep me glued to my laptop.

Q5
Do you find it easy to work with other authors on one project?

A5
Mostly yes. I love getting involved and if you have a group of authors who all pull their weight you have a force to be reckoned with. It also depends on the leader and I am lucky to be working with Nicole Morgan, who keeps a tight ship.
I have to admit I am still in awe of these great bestselling authors and feel humbled in their presence, so I do what I can to make sure I am not left behind.

Thank you, Allyson for your honesty. I wish you well with future sales.

Not at all. Thank you, Victoria, for asking me to an interview. Allyson xx
