4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 335 ratings

Alpha Sylvan Mir‘s efforts to achieve sovereignty for the Weres, Vampires, and other non-humans is made even more difficult when a neighboring wolf Were Pack petitions Sylvan for aid. Someone, or some thing, is raiding the territory of the Snowcrest wolf Weres along the Canadian border. While newly ascended Snowcrest Alpha Zora Constantine, along with Ash, the captain of her guard, awaits the decision of Sylvan's war council, inter-Pack tensions rise. Especially when Ash and Sylvan's centuri Jace develop an unexpected and unwanted primal attraction.

Are the raids just an attempt to secure more territory by rogue Weres? Or is it all a ruse to bring Sylvan and her mate Drake out into the open where they are vulnerable to enemy attacks? When Sylvan and Drake's war party heads north to hunt the rogue raiders, Ash and Jace must decide between duty and the call of their deepest desires.

One thought comes to mind when I look back on this book; I wish it was longer. I knew it was going to be a foreshortened novella, if you will, but it didn't change the bit of a let down I felt when it ended. The previous books being full length novels, I guess I was just spoiled. Unfortunately, the short length also made for a far less elaborate plot. The relationship between Jace and Ash was set up early and developed as I would have expected it would, and I enjoyed the build-up, right until the mate bond. Then of course the book ended.
I wondered about the joining of forces between the two packs, Timberwolf and Snowcrest. Also, how easily Sylvan delegated not only her best wolves but also putting Drake at risk. The move seemed uncharacteristic of Alpha Mir, at least without a bit of push-back.
The battle scene with the Fae forces was gripping, and perhaps the best section of the book.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read, and a welcome addition to the series.
If there is another, and I have no reason to think there wouldn't be, I only hope that it's a full length novel.
On a quick note, I did purchase the Audiobook companion and can honestly say that it was horrible. The lack of emotion by the reader, and the frequent changes in tonality in the recording were a let down.

📍 “Before she’d turned, when she’d been only human, she would’ve rejected the very idea of being so connected to another living being she couldn’t survive without them. Now she couldn’t imagine being without it. Sylvan was more than her love, more than her passion—she was her life.”

An alpha comes asking for help when her captain disrupts the negotiations by trying to mate the other pack’s captain.

Sex is on the mind of multiple people in L.L. Raand’s Rogue Hunt. I will not say much as this is a novella and most of the action that takes place in this story revolves around the couples and whether they will or will not have sex. Alpha Sylvan Mir makes up for lost time with her mate while dealing with council and deciding whether to help Snow Crest Alpha Zora Constantine. In the meantime, both of their captains cannot keep away from each other as their attraction builds with each contact. There is also the attraction between Alpha Zora and a trainer for the Weres. Then there is question as to what exactly will everyone be fighting if they decide to form an alliance with the Snow Crest as even their Alpha cannot accurately describe the danger that awaits them.

Let me just say that the sex is quick (laugh), maybe because it is a novella but these shifters do not require much in foreplay nor in actual action. I did like the chemistry between Ash and Jace, but I think I would have like more communication but once again this is a novella so it is just a bridge to another book. I enjoyed this quick glimpse into the “Midnight Hunters” series and I have to say it makes curious to read some of the other novels. Stay tuned as one is bound to appear here soon!

Great read, beautiful paranormal story with all the parts that make unusual erotic romance in an alternate world. If you love paranormal, fantasy, romance this is series is perfect. And if you have never explored this kind of literature then it’s a great place to start.

Let me just say, I started reading the hunt series 2 months ago. I'm all caught up and seriously invested in the characters. I can't wait for the next book. I love these books so much that I'm going to reread them while I wait. This last installment was a fast read for me. It was still invigorating none the less. I do want the paperback for it. I'm not a digital reading fan but for this series I'll get them any way I can and buy the physical copy when allowed.

I love Radclyffe's books. In Rogue Hunt, the Timberwolves are requested to aid the Snowcrest wolf pack, a smaller pack who have been off the grid for centuries. They've been attacked and picked off by an unknown attacker. As the two packs ally together against this unknown attacker, Timberwolf's centurai Jace and Snowcrest's Captain Ash fall in love.

The story centers on Jace and Ash, but the whole book seemed to be missing something. Usually there is more to the story. In this story, I expected more about the two packs, the determination of who was attacking, how the packs would work together now that the two wolves were mated, and finally, more about this intrigue that Snowcrest's Alpha might have with a Timberwolf Captain. But it didn't go there. Everything built around Jace and Ash was fluff. I got to the end of the book and thought, where's the rest of the story? I know these books are primarily about the love story, that's why I love them. But I feel like I have unanswered questions this time.

However, putting my feelings aside, the love story is beautiful and I would recommend reading it.

As always but way too short. I'll admit I absolutely love this series.
It is full of action and adventure. But this one centered more on the wolves.
Seems as if Sylvan and the Timberwolves still have fighting to do. The war isn't over.

It's great to see the young make an appearance.
I can't wait for the next instalment.
I would not advise you to read this as a stand-alone, but you could.
Enjoy!
