4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 952 ratings

'But I am a monster. I am the "Son of Sam". I am a little brat. When father Sam gets drunk he gets mean.... Sam loves to drink blood. "Go out and kill," commands father Sam.'
-
David Berkowitz

Evil has many faces. Serial killers, drug kingpins, rapists, and simple murderers fill the pages of this horrifying collection. The actions of these terrible men and women are so vile you will find it hard to believe what they did.

The World's Worst Crimes features many of the worst criminals of human history, including:

· Carlos the Jackal, a terrorist who carried out a series of bomb attacks in Europe, but soon came to enjoy the violence for its own sake.
· Harold Shipman, who killed over 236 of his patients, taking advantage of his privileged position as a family doctor.
· The 6' 9" Ed Kemper, who captured unfortunate hitchhikers before he raped, murdered, and dismembered them.
· Jeffrey Dahmer, who tortured and killed his victims before eating them.

I found this book hard to put down. Extremely interesting, extremely gruesome. However, felt very sorry for the victims and their families.

I wasn't sure what I was getting when I started reading "World's Worst Crimes" but I have to say that it is quite compelling. This is a series (thus A - Z) short informational articles describing the worst crimes and the perpetrators through the years. It is shocking, unbelievable, and disturbing what some people actually do to other humans....

Pay no attention to the title “ THE WORLDS WORST CRIMES - not even close. Yes - there are some very nasty people listed here.
A couple pages per case is what you get. I have no problem with that if the facts are correct - they are not. Just two examples of what I’m talking about. They have PAUL BERNARDO’s victim, Kirsten French, listed as 17 when murderd - actually she was 15 yrs. another one - llse Koch (The Bitch of Buchenwald) as dying in prison in 1971. Actually she hanged herself using strips of bed sheets in 1967. I think you get the picture here...sloppy research.

This book shows the true evil that is endemic in today's world. The utter evil and savagery of some people is almost unbelievable.I have a book on Kindle, "By Fair Hand" that illustrates the wickedness of female killers in Britain but they are like friends of the family compared to many of those in this book. Well put together and allows a true insight into the murderous mind. Bill Franks author of "Iniquity" and others.

this type of information is see how bad people were and are today and are going to be in the future. Its going to be like this until the end of time which we have no idea will be.

Book was okay but somewhat more mundane than I expected. Not nearly as suspense filled as I had hoped. Good book to read when you go to bed because it will make you sleepy very quickly.

The book is really creepy and gives a bit of a look into the minds of serial killers. Worth a look for people who like true crime.

3.0 out of 5 stars Kurzer, etwas oberflächlicher und ungenauer Überblick über eine große Anzahl berühmter Verbrechen

Gut geeignet für Leute, die zum erstenmal die Nase in das Thema "How nasty can you get?" hineinstecken, flotte Nebenher-Lektüre für Kenner, die das alles ohnehin schon wissen, aber nicht up to date und, wie ein Kollege schrieb, ziemlich sloppy heruntergehudelt. Unbedingt mit seriöser Lektüre ergänzen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Many familiar, a few different
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 27, 2013
As an avid reader of true crime books, I find many books like this tend to summarise the same crimes over and over. Although this book does contain a lot of the crimes detailed in other books, there are a number that I had not read about before and which I am sure will be of interest to others who have read a lot of true crime book. This is also an excellent book for newer enthusiasts as it details many of the most infamous crimes and is a good book to use to find stories which you may want to read about in greater depth. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone who wants a great amount of detail about the crimes as there are only a few pages on each one.

5.0 out of 5 stars could have been a lot thicker

this book was good though it could have been a lot thicker, more detail could have gone into each case, still enjoyable though
