When we try talking to non-Muslim counselors and professionals, they don't understand the unique struggles of being Muslim with mental health struggles. Often their advice goes against out deep-rooted beliefs and values.

What are we supposed to do?

My name is Bro. Omar L. Rashed, and I faced just that situation. As a Muslim with depression, anxiety, and bipolar, I dealt with the ups and downs, and no Islamic scholars - no friends or family - no western professionals - could help me.

It wasn't until I journeyed out into my own that I was able to find a solution that worked for me. And this solution brings together western, secular, professional values as well as my Islamic identity and solutions.

I have a Bachelor's and Master's in Social Work, which helps ground these techniques. And I'm a deep student of Islamic knowledge and wisdom, so root all of my efforts in our deen.

But more than anything, I've lived through it all - suicide attempts, family breakdown, job loss - you name it, I faced it.

These practices work. They bring joy, happiness, and contentment, as well as spiritual tranquility, warm relationship with Allah, and peace with friends and family who can't understand. The practices build up our inner strength, and allow us to flourish in all aspects of life - most of all, overcoming depression and anxiety.

And I'm offering them with you so you find relief, too.

It was through years of struggle, despair, and misery that Allah finally showed me the path to peace, using both Islam and techniques suitable for me with mental health struggles.
