4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 723 ratings

Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a French author best known for his tales of adventure, including Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Around the World in Eighty Days. A true visionary, Verne foresaw the skyscraper, the submarine, and the airplane, among many other inventions, and is now regarded as one of the fathers of science fiction.

The story is fabulous, of course, but the printing is terrible! Whether is is pages with one line centered or enlarged, it is so incredibly distracting. Paragraphs don't start with the top margin, but the center. Pretty disappointed as the illustrations are lovely.

It claims to be a "french edition", but it certainly is not. Sentences do not make sense, and seem to be the poor result of automatic language translation. This book should not be listed.

Full of typos. Not edited properly. Inner margins too small to read comfortably.

I'm glad this didn't cost much. I wanted this to practice my french, and it's great for that. I like that it has illustrations, but the print layout is terrible, with three different font sizes to a page sometimes. Oh well.

5.0 out of 5 stars great edition for a classic

I bought this book mainly for practicing my french - I guess most people does for the same reason - with a great story that I've never read an adult translation (just those teen editions that were so popular in the 80's). Well, I've loved the book. Illustrations are beautiful, the pages aren't full used - so there is space for notes (and to rest the eyes also), the story is great and I feel so proud to read it on the original. definetely recommend it!
