A Very Special Ant: Teach Your Children Friendship and Creativity (Riverboat Series Chapter Books Book 3) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 33 ratings

Do You Want To Be Special? Be Yourself.

Titus the badger, Finn the falcon, and Shylow the fox are as different as three friends can be. But they all share the same love of sailing. One day they are dumbfounded when they stop their boat for a picnic - and their food appears to walk away on its own!

The problem is solved as they realize that the culprits are tiny ants and after some royal interference by the queen of the ants a compromise is reached. However, Wendy, one of the ants, is unhappy with her ant-like existence and wants to be different. Everything seems boring to her. Then Finn has an idea. However, he does not know what the outcome will be.

Discover what happens when Wendy valiantly tries to assert her individuality.

A Very Special Ant is a children’s chapter book beautifully illustrated by Tanya Maneki. If you and your children like courageous animals, funny encounters, and “special” creativity, then you’ll both love this charming story. The story celebrates the special bond that gets formed between completely different animals. It combines the rhythm of Kenneth Grahame’s “Wind in the Willows”, the heart of A.A. Milne’s “Winnie the Pooh” and the playfulness of Mo Williams.

Perfect for all children ages 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and up, and Pre-K -5th grade.

Finn, Shylow and Titus were best friends and
Love spending time together. Their favorite thing is going down the river in a canoe. They were looking for an adventure and stopped for lunch, they had a blanket and basket with food. They heard a noise and discovered an ant 🐜 who was sad. She was bored. Every day was like the last. She was thinking of moving just so it would be different. She ran off and the friends followed behind. While they were gone, the rest of the ants decided to steal the rest of the food, blanket, and basket. When the boys came back they saw their food leaving. The ants 🐜🐜 took off. They decided to share. They also decided to help Wendy th depressed ant. What they did and how they used paint is totally up to you to find out.
This is a great chapter book for your youngster. The words are not too hard and the chapters are not too long. These three buddies are fun to follow on their many journeys. You can enjoy the book together or let your kid tell you about it as they go along.
I found this book on a website for free for an honest review.

This was a nice little story that I read over the course of a week to my 2 & 6 year old. They both loved it and I will be looking for more books from this author!

My children love to read and I am so happy that there are books like this one out there that I can read to them.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! The chapters are short and the pictures are so pretty and colorful!
The story shows the power of friendship as well as seeing the value in others and ourselves. Titus, Shylow, and Finn showed Wendy and all the ants friendship, but it didn't stop there. They were worried about Wendy's problem and they all tried to help her. They showed her how much she helped the other ants and how smart and creative she was.
This would be an excellent book for kids who are having trouble finding their own place or for a kid who's met someone different.

The third chapter book in the Riverboat series, this beautifully illustrated story really makes you think about what makes us individuals and special. Both myself and my nieces enjoyed it very much, and I love the fact you can read the books in this series as standalone stories too, though they're so sweet that you'll want to read them all!
NB I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I always give an HONEST review based wholly on my own opinions

I received a free copy of this book to review. This chapter book is actually a part of the Riverboat series. The characters are cute animals. I’m not sure if the age group this book is intended for but some of the words are a bit long and difficult for young readers.

This is a good story about friends, individuality and sharing. Was a little concerned that my grandson wasn't interested at first but as the story went on, he began having a good reaction and paying more attention to the story. We received this book for free from the author. I would recommend this book to family and friends. It teaches a good lesson and has "cool" (as my grandson says) characters.
