I can sum up my views on this collection of essays in a single sentence.

*I truly feel that after reading this work,I have a much more intimate relationship with Jesus personally, and a far more enlightened idea of the man himself*

Some may say that not having a table of contents is a detractor, but let us be honest. We purchased the free version. Be thrifty, use the contents page at the beginning for title references. Then spend a few moments before you begin reading putting in some highlights on the chapter titles as you scroll. Not difficult at all. I would recommend to the more intellectual of my associates. It takes a bit of thought to really analyze all of the points in the book. Outstandingly worded for a book published in the twenties.

I haven't completed this book yet but I'm compelled to point out is was originally published 1920. The Gutenberg project published the free edition in 2004. This book has grown out of lectures upon the historical Jesus given in a good many cities of India. Contents include the Study of the Gospels; Childhood and Youth; The Man and His Mind; The Teacher and the Disciples; The Teaching of Jesus Upon God; Jesus and Man; Jesus' Teaching Upon Sin; The Choice of the Cross; The Christian Church in the Roman Empire; and Jesus in Christian Thought.

I'm amazed that anyone would believe it was actually written in 2004. It offers interesting perspectives especially when placed in the context of when it was really written.(RE: A Customer)

I would like to say that even though I have only read two chapters of this book, I find it to be; extremely informative, unbiased, and approached from a historical theological perspective. I ordered this book because of my desire to understand the historical perspective that surrounded the individuals who were with Jesus during his ministry. I hope to gain some insight into the path of enlightenment that was obvious during Jesus's brief existence on earth. I will definitly purchase more e-books in the future.

You can tell this is a old read and one of those books trying to justify Jesus from a newer angle.

This to me is a "classic" work and second only to Philip Yancy's "The Jesus I Never Knew." I'm surprised I hadn't heard of it before. It is deep and profound while remaining accessible to the average reader. The chapter on sin by itself really opened my eyes. This, like "Mere Christianity" will be a volume I'll go back to again, just to absorb the beauty and the logic, insights expressed in the most practical and artful writing. Highly recommended.

Sorry this review is late. I have been ill. I am a history and Bible buff and disable so do a lot of reading. It is wonderful to me that you have so many free Kindle Books. I could never afford to buy all the books read. My Kindle is one of the best used and loved items I have bought in years.

Noah Worcester's book (dating from 1829) is a marvel: Written in a lucid, fresh and lively style, providing food for thought on virtually every page, arguments based on Scripture, not on any form of church dogmatics. Almost 200 years old and still so eminently readable. The best refutation of the theory of substitutionary atonement that I have ever encountered. Highly recommended!

Well written and in-depth look at who Jesus was ad is. A through examination apologetics with just the right amount of proselytizing.
