Top review from the United States

Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2016
In 1791 E Darwin (grandfather of C. Darwin) published a set of two poems, Economy of Vegetation and Loves of the Plants. The first poem The Economy of Vegetation celebrates the latest in scientific theory and practice covering a wide range of topics including the history of the cosmos. The second part, Loves of the Plants, promoted the then new, and rather scandalous, Linnaean classification scheme for plants. English gardeners were reluctant to adopt Linnaeus's approach because it was based on sex. Darwin's poem makes botany popular and almost ponograhic by anthropomorphizes plants and their reductive schemes.
Reading this book on a Kindle makes this work accessible to those maybe curious about the poem and do not want to spend $100s to get a dead tree copy.
