This was a good book. It was creepy, kind of sad, and dark, it had a hell of an ending. I recommend to all fans of modern horror

I need to put a half star are here. This is my first experience with this author and I was pleasantly pleased. I've found that the "shorter " novelas sometimes waste space trying to set scenes and build characters adding unnecessary descriptions and whatnot. That wasn't the case here at all. Crisp dialog and authentic character discovery made the story move at just the right pace. The 3.5 stars is only because it's the first offering of the author's that I've read. I have the others waiting on my Kindle. That and I never give 5 stars.

I don't know why I read this story? I don't like clowns! Yet, this being a Greg James book, I had to read it!

The lead in this story is Emma, a nice lady who also hates clowns. She has two young kids and one of them is special needs but she loves them both beyond here whole life; it just may come to that scenario. Emma take s a walk in the woods, bad choice.

Emma is taken back to her youth to re-live things she would rather leave forgotten.

This is a one freak out story. I hate clowns more then I did before but I must give kudos to Mr. James. He has written a story that tries your soul, brings new meaning to a truly heart pumping read, and that clowns do suck!

Enjoyed this. There is some good, creepy atmosphere and visual description. There is some good emotional depth to the main character, despite the short length of the book. This is a good choice if you're looking for a quick read.

Greg James is a great horror author. Lead character Emma, is a mother, relaxing, walking in the woods. Parenting two children, one with special needs, she doesn't expect her own childhood nightmare to emerge. James writes his clowns subtly, not bright and hysterical. His clowns are, hoboish, methodical. Emma is taken to a place in her childhood, a promise /threat, made at a circus. Eternally haunted, Emma was chosen by the clowns. James writes the past and present, the emotions of a little girl, and a mother. This was my first read from this author, was very impressed. Unique, kept me intrigued, vested in Emma's fate.
