2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.

3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.

4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.

5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.

6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.

7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.

8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)

9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.

10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

This is the first book of the Barrington Billionaire series and it definitely made me want to keep on reading the rest of the books! The characters are well developed and the story line is great, but that is to be expected in books by Danielle Stewart. The main characters are James and Libby...James is a hotshot trying to get Libby in his bed and Libby is just trying to keep her secrets to herself. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would definitely recommend.

Not your average Alpha/Billionaire story! There was so much going on! An abusive ex-boyfriend, a crazy yet lovable best friend, and a corrupt former CEO? I don't know what else you could ask for! The characters were well developed and truly likeable; whereas a lot of these books have a super whiny heroine. I would recommend reading this book to anyone who likes a nice HEA, and a plot with a few twists and turns.

James and Libby have chemistry, but he has rules about socializing with employees. Can they keep their hands off each other? Will she be able to perform her job at the company?
How will James react to her information about her family’s involvement in a work related accident? How is he going to improve the company reputation and still be honest about former dealings with employees and their families? How does honesty play in the corporate World? Really good read!

Well written. The main characters were difficult to like. The female was somewhat of a doormat and the male thought he was entitled to everything especially the main female. They did improve toward the end of the story. The story was complex and the main characters and supporting characters dealt with many challenges that weren’t completely resolved at the end of the book. The main characters did get their HEA.

James has long fought with his father over the years about what was best for the company and he never listened to his advice and ideas. James calls an employee meeting to let them be aware of the change of focus the company will now take and meets Libby Saint Jane, who becomes his assistant. James suspects Libby is hiding something from him although he is very drawn to her and does not want her for an assistant but a temporary bedmate. A lot happens in this book including an abusive ex, assault, lies and hidden secrets come to the surface. Good start to a new series. James can be described as handsome, rich, controlling, intelligent, dedicated, loyal and sexy. Libby can be described as beautiful, passionate, naïve, subservient due to her past mistakes, intelligent, loyal, and loving.

Libby meets the new CEO of West Oil when she shows up at a mandatory staff meeting at a company where she doesn't work. The attraction is immediate, but she is actually being paid for not working there in an under-the-table agreement set up by her mother. In lieu of a death payout for her husband (Libby's father) who died on an oil rig because of unsafe practices.

The next thing Libby knows she is the new executive assistant to the CEO and she is trying desperately to not let him figure out she has no idea what she's doing.

I liked the book. James starts out as your typical upright CEO and Libby appears to lack self-esteem and confidence in her abilities. Aunt Marrisa, Matthew, and Jessica are great secondary characters. The story was well thought out with a few twists to keep the reader interested.

Her father worked for an oil company . James the son took over after the dad had a stroke. The father was underhanded giving Libby a job on paper and paid her a monthly check

After James took over with his friend Matthew Libby fake her job and became an assistant to James. It was love at first sight. After an employee Wallace lied that James knew about payoff Libby left the job.
She hooked up with her old boyfriend. He claimed he had a girlfriend but still wanted Libby. She trapped him into talking about all the beatings he gave her. He punched her in front of a group. He was taken away and Libby had her evidence-James and Libby were engaged after James father confessed about his misgivings.
The book is easy to read and there were no cliffhangers it is a clean and well written book.

We are introduced to James West, Jr and his best friend and business partner, Mathew Kalling who left Boston to go to Texas since James Sr was in the hospital incapacitated. Now, James and Mathew needed to run West Oil Resourcing & Distribution.

James of course was going to run the company “his way” and conquer the industry. Of course, that was before they found past issues with the company. In the meantime, James keeps crossing paths with Libby Saint-Jane and can’t seem to figure out her role in the company and can’t explain the electrical charge and passion he feels every time they see each other.

When James and Libby finally give into their passion, Libby is now afraid that James will find out her secret and lie and not only kick her out of his bed and his life.

Will they be able to have their HEA or will her lie be too much for James to forgive?
