This is great! I am trying to start a blog and vlogging my life. So I wanted my writing to be creative and I feel immersive. I feel after all the writing that I have done, it is very bland and flat. I want depth and creativity in my words. SO I will be studying this book heavily. The book is huge and will take time to really integrate this into my writing style. I am excited to really try a lot of these out.

There is tips for everything from food, weather, animals, plants, science... etc. There is a lot. So get the e-book read it and see how much is actually in this book. It is helpful!

for me, someone who loves writing, yet somehow finds themself, quite frequently, locked in a stump of writer's block, this series is invaluable. i love having it available on my mobile. (i use a writing app as well.) i used to carry pen & paper everywhere, for those moments that come out of nowhere. much of my recent progress, in a couple different writing projects, has been due to these prompts & letting them roll around in my head. waiting for that odd moment, like when you're almost asleep... it takes nothing to jot it in the (writing app); just the absolute dedication to not doing anything else on the phone. there is much to be said, positively, about how these prompts can spark the mind, and crack into a creative vein; i highly recommend them to anyone who loves to write, yet finds themselves chasing their muse more often than they're sanity can handle.

I didn't like these prompts. I was under the impression that these were for adults when I downloaded the book, but a lot of the questions seem to be written from the perspective of kids. For example, the summer questions seem to assume that we all take some sort of months long vacation when the weather gets nice. These are weird questions to answer as an adult. For example, one prompt poses a hypothetical drought. It asks what you would do on a typical day if you couldn't play in the pool or run through the sprinklers. As an active, working adult, this question was a little hard to take seriously. I don't spend my summer days running through the sprinklers. Though I do spend more time outside, my day to day life isn't as affected by such seasonal changes because I am no longer going to school. Some other examples include on prompt in which you hypothetically are given a summer job mowing lawns and another in which you set up a lemonade stand with your friends. Maybe its just nit picky but I was looking for a book for an adult to use and it was just too hard to take many of these prompts seriously. I wish more of them had been a little heavier than plots of Brady Bunch episodes. I know I'm supposed to be using my imagination here but maybe they were just too specific at times and it took me out of it? It is a great book of prompts for a teen though and I would recommend its use in the classroom.

I originally received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Even though I dabble in creative writing, I find the books from this series much more interesting and useful for journaling with my 13 year old daughter and as I mentioned in my review for one of the other books, they're great for starter topics for my language exchange blogs and chats, since they force me to think on a deeper level than the usual niceties and current events that we would usually talk about. There's enough to keep you writing for a long time in this one, and having it split into seasonal topics is nice.

I'd recommend this one especially for journaling with younger/inexperienced writers, the prompts are solid enough give them something to really dig into to write about, unlike a lot of creative writing prompts that can be kind of vague and confusing for someone just starting out.

This book is loaded with a ton of examples to help you get beyond writer's block. Dividing it up by the season's was genius on the author's part! There are so many distractions out there, this book will be one of my main tools to turn to next time I get stuck and can't write a thing! Thanks for providing such a good book and some of it has helped me already.

Bryan's writing prompts always spark my imagination. Not only do they give me inspiration, I also use his books to plot my own stories. I find many, many ways to use his prompts to create character flaws when one of my characters seems to be lacking in the qualities a good protagonist or antagonist need to carry a scene. I sometimes get stuck just reading his prompts and jot down my own twists. I don't know if anyone else uses his books as I do, but they are a tool I can go back to over and over again and feel like am am reading something new. I highly recommend all his books because I get so much out of them.

I downloaded this but then did not read it. It was too involved for what I was looking for. I just wanted simple sentence completion starters, not long involved writing.

Oh my goodness--this has been such a great help for me in my high school writing class. I read a prompt and they write. Thank you so much for publishing this book, Bryan Cohen. It has been so useful to me not only in my own writing but also for those I teach.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Most Helpful Book I have Read in a Long Time
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 30, 2014
I was given this book for free and politely asked if I would review it in return. Bryan, I am delighted to do so. As an avid reader and a very amateur writer who simply enjoys writing short stories, articles on topics of the day, poetry, private thoughts and so on; this book was such a pleasure to read. For me personally I found it inspirational. It excited me! I try to write something daily, be it just a few sentences or an actual short story et al and I confess there are times I just sit and look at a blank page and think "what now?" I want to write but nothing is jumping into my mind. This wonderful little book has lots of "what if?" situations covering many subjects under the umbrella term of the four seasons. The open-ended questions approach generates many situations to gain ideas from no matter what type of writing anyone may be tackling. Just to give you an idea of how impressed I am I have purchased two more of your books Bryan and am eagerly anticipating lots more great ideas and much inspiration to encourage me to keep at it. Thank you and good luck.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I'd hoped for
Reviewed in Australia on October 6, 2015
This wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. The prompts are the sort of thing a teacher would give their high school class to write essays on. The subject matters and wording is all clearly aimed at this age group. It would be a great resource for a teacher (especially if in the US), but as an adult writer I found almost nothing to inspire me. Some prompts would refer to an event, or song/tv show/etc, which would get my interest, but then the prompt to write coming off that would fall flat.
